Classes & Enrollment

Classes are the core organizational unit of the School module. Each class has a subject, teacher, schedule, and roster of enrolled students.

Creating a Class

  1. Navigate to School > Classes.
  2. Click Add Class.
  3. Fill in the details:
    • Name -- e.g., "Grade 3 Arabic," "Confirmation Class," "Torah Study - Beginners"
    • Subject -- Select from your defined subjects. See Terms & Subjects.
    • Level / Grade -- The academic level (e.g., Grade 1, Beginner, Advanced)
    • Teacher -- Assign a teacher from your member directory
    • Term -- Which academic term this class belongs to
    • Capacity -- Maximum number of students (optional)
    • Schedule -- Day and time the class meets
  4. Click Save.

Enrolling Students

  1. Open the class detail page.
  2. Click Enroll Students.
  3. Search for and select members to enroll.
  4. Click Save.

Students must have a profile in your People directory before they can be enrolled.

Managing Enrollment

From the class detail page:

  • View the full roster of enrolled students
  • See current enrollment count vs. capacity
  • Remove students from the class
  • Add new students at any time during the term

Capacity Limits

When you set a capacity on a class:

  • The enrollment count is displayed alongside the limit
  • You receive a warning if enrollment exceeds capacity
  • This helps you plan room assignments and teaching resources

Class List View

The class list shows all classes with:

  • Class name, subject, level, and teacher
  • Enrollment count
  • Term
  • Filter by subject, level, or teacher

Use grade levels consistently across classes to make it easy to filter and generate report cards by level.
