Prayer Times
The Prayer Times feature calculates and displays the five daily Islamic prayer times based on your location and preferred calculation method. This feature is automatically enabled with the Islamic terminology pack.
Five Daily Prayers
FaithAdmin calculates times for:
- Fajr -- Pre-dawn prayer
- Dhuhr -- Midday prayer
- Asr -- Afternoon prayer
- Maghrib -- Sunset prayer
- Isha -- Night prayer
Calculation Methods
Choose from six calculation methods based on your region or scholarly preference:
| Method | Used By |
|---|---|
| Muslim World League (MWL) | Europe, Far East, parts of Americas |
| Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) | North America |
| Egyptian General Authority | Africa, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon |
| Umm al-Qura University | Saudi Arabia, Arabian Peninsula |
| University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi | Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Afghanistan |
| Institute of Geophysics, Tehran | Iran, Shia communities |
Juristic Method for Asr
The Asr prayer time differs between schools of thought:
- Shafi'i (standard) -- Asr begins when shadow length equals the object length
- Hanafi -- Asr begins when shadow length equals twice the object length (results in a later Asr time)
Iqamah Offsets
Set the iqamah (congregation prayer start) time as an offset from the adhan (call to prayer):
- Configure a minutes offset for each prayer (e.g., Fajr iqamah 15 minutes after adhan)
- Both adhan and iqamah times are displayed
Qibla Direction
FaithAdmin calculates the Qibla direction (toward Mecca) based on your organization's geographic coordinates. This is displayed alongside the prayer times.
Configuration
- Navigate to Settings or Prayer Times.
- Set your location (coordinates are determined from your address).
- Select your preferred calculation method.
- Choose the juristic method for Asr (Shafi'i or Hanafi).
- Set iqamah offsets for each prayer.
Choose the calculation method most commonly used in your region. If unsure, ISNA is standard in North America and MWL is common in Europe.
