Custom Fields

Custom fields let you capture data that is unique to your organization beyond the 30+ built-in profile fields.

Creating a Custom Field

  1. Navigate to Settings > Custom Fields (or see Custom Fields Admin).
  2. Click Add Field.
  3. Enter a name for the field.
  4. Select the field type.
  5. For dropdown and multi-select types, enter the list of options.
  6. Optionally mark the field as required.
  7. Add a description to help staff understand what to enter.
  8. Click Save.

Managing Values on Profiles

Once a custom field is defined, it appears on every member profile:

  1. Open a member's profile in People.
  2. Scroll to the Custom Fields section.
  3. Enter or update values for each field.
  4. Click Save.

Reordering Fields

Custom fields can be reordered by drag-and-drop in the admin settings. The sort order determines how fields appear on member profiles.

Deleting Fields

Deactivating a custom field hides it from profiles but preserves existing data. This allows you to restore fields later without data loss.

dica

Use dropdown and multi-select fields instead of free text when possible -- they make filtering and reporting much easier.
