Memorials & Yahrzeit
The Memorials feature helps you track death anniversaries (yahrzeit) and ensure families are notified and remembered during services.
Adding a Memorial
- Navigate to Memorials from the sidebar.
- Click Add Memorial.
- Fill in:
- Name of Deceased -- The person being remembered
- Date of Death (Gregorian) -- The civil calendar date
- Date of Death (Hebrew) -- The Hebrew calendar date (auto-calculated if the Hebrew Calendar feature is enabled)
- Relationship -- How the deceased is related to the member (parent, spouse, child, sibling, etc.)
- Linked Member -- The member in your congregation who observes this yahrzeit
- Click Save.
Hebrew Date Tracking
Yahrzeit is traditionally observed according to the Hebrew calendar:
- FaithAdmin converts between Gregorian and Hebrew dates automatically
- The Hebrew anniversary date is used for notifications and upcoming alerts
- Both dates are stored and displayed for reference
Notification Schedule
FaithAdmin sends reminders as the yahrzeit approaches:
- Advance notice -- Configurable notification sent days or weeks before the date
- Day-of reminder -- Notification on the yahrzeit date itself
- Notifications go to the linked member and optionally to staff
Upcoming Alerts
The Memorials dashboard shows:
- Upcoming yahrzeit dates -- Sorted by how soon they occur
- This week's memorials -- Quickly see who to remember in this week's services
- This month's memorials -- Plan ahead for the month
These alerts help clergy and staff prepare to acknowledge memorials during services, read names, or light memorial candles.
Integration with Services
Use the upcoming memorials list to:
- Read names during Yizkor services
- Include names in the weekly bulletin or announcements
- Send condolence or remembrance messages to families
