Service Honors

Service Honors help you track and manage the roles people play during worship services -- from Torah readings to prayer leadership to candle lighting.

Honor Types

FaithAdmin supports 17 honor types commonly used in synagogue and worship services:

  • Aliyah (1st through 7th) -- Called to the Torah for each reading portion
  • Maftir -- Final Torah reading and Haftarah
  • Hagbah -- Lifting the Torah scroll
  • Gelilah -- Dressing the Torah scroll
  • Petichah -- Opening the Ark
  • Lector -- Scripture reader
  • Candle Lighting -- Lighting Shabbat or holiday candles
  • Kiddush -- Reciting the blessing over wine
  • Motzi -- Reciting the blessing over bread
  • D'var Torah -- Delivering a Torah commentary
  • Prayer Leader -- Leading a prayer service

The available honor types adapt based on your Terminology Pack.

Viewing by Date

Filter service honors by date to see all assignments for a specific service. This serves as your service planning sheet, showing who is doing what.

Viewing by Member

View a member's honor history to see all the times they have been assigned a role. This is useful for:

  • Ensuring fair rotation of honors across members
  • Tracking who has not been honored recently
  • Planning equitable distribution of prestigious roles

Rotation Tracking

Use the member view to monitor rotation:

  • See the last time each member received each type of honor
  • Identify members who have been overlooked
  • Plan upcoming service assignments with fairness in mind
تلميح

Plan service honors at least a week in advance so members have time to prepare, especially for roles like D'var Torah or Lector.
